Fox II Sailing and Wildlife Cruise

Sail with dophins, see wildlife. Akaroa harbour up close on New Zealand's oldest ketch Fox II. Learn about local history & help crew if you want. With 2 wooden masts and 6 sails there is always a halyard to hoist or a sheet to be pulled. 3 hour tour with historic narration, complementary fresh brewed coffee, tea, homemade hot chocolate and biscuits. The only boat in Akaroa with dolphin guarantee! You will see dolphins, penguins and seals (sometimes albatross), visit Cathedral Cave, see a waterfall and giant cliffs.

$120 per adult, $55 for child and $320 for a family of 2 adults and up to 3 children. Seniors get a $10 discount and under 5 are free.
Departing Daly's Wharf 10.30am and 1.30pm.

Akaroa Bridge Club

Akaroa Bridge Club has 60+ members who play mixed grade duplicate bridge on Monday nights at 7.30pm at the Akaroa Golf Club, 77 Pawsons Valley Road, Duvauchelle.  Please be seated by 7.20pm.  Table fee is $5 per person.  Play usually finishes about 10.30pm.  The playing season runs from the end of January to the end of November.

Walking Tracks

Akaroa and Banks Peninsula has many great walking tracks that you can enjoy for free. These vary from short hikes to all day tramps over the picturesque hills. Most of the walks have spectacular views of the Akaroa harbour once you get up into the hills above the township. Banks Track is a famous coastal private walking track. Sharing our backyard since 1989.
Choose between a 3 day classic walk and a 2 day hike.

The Banks Peninsula Branch of the Christchurch Pony Club

The Banks Peninsula Branch of the Christchurch Pony Club has a Rally on the second Sunday of every month at the Pony Club / Show Grounds in Duvauchelle. Children from ages 4 – 18 are taught how to care for their ponies, gain and improve riding skills, have fun with their ponies and make new friends with similar interests. Adult riding members are also welcome as are volunteer instructors.

Akaroa Croquet Club

The Akaroa Croquet Club is located in the sports area adjacent to the tennis courts, and on the seaward side of the car park behind the Grand Hotel.

The club comprises of two full size croquet lawns, has its own club rooms and welcomes visitors from other croquet clubs either within New Zealand or from overseas.

For visitors we offer playing equipment and have a green fee charge of $8.00 for a full days play. Contact Giles Hancock (Secretary) (03) 304-7124 if you would like to play.

We play GOLF Croquet.

Playing Days: The club plays on a regular basis every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday at 1:15pm with play commencing at 1:30pm. Games are approximately 35 minutes, over the course of three hours.

The playing season is from the first week in September until about the middle of April.
