The history of The Koru Gallery

Kia ora and welcome to The Koru Gallery- the home of Graeme Wylie - Jade Carver. 

Shortly after we opened, our showroom and our taonga (treasures), were blessed by the church leader from our local Marae at Onuku.  This, combined with Graeme's passion for pounamu, will make taking home a treasure from our store all the more special.  We welcome you to share our dream with us.

Graeme Wylie - Master Jade Carver

For the almost 20 years he has been carving, Graeme Wylie had a vision. A vision not only to carve exquisite works of art out of arguably the best Jade in the world, but to also share his talent and that vision with others.  Graeme was trained in Hokitika, the 'Jade Capital' of New Zealand.  Since then, Graeme found he wanted to share his talent further afield. Akaroa, with it's perfect balance of all the earth's elements, provided just the right location.  The area's beauty, tranquility and easy-going lifestyle fitted perfectly for his dream.  New Zealand Pounamu (greenstone/jade) is something Graeme has a true passion for.  His connection with the stone can be seen from what he creates - it is an almost magical experience.

He was rewarded for his talent in the 2002 Mana Pounamu NZ Jade Exhibition by being awarded a special commendation.

Be rest assured that any jade carving, no matter the size, created by Graeme Wylie would have been carved with precision, thought and passion.  His work is recommended to be seen first hand to be fully appreciated.
