Brief Description
Celebrating the flourishing food and wine industries, the very first Akaroa Harvest Festival will be held at the Akaroa Recreation Ground. Award winning wineries to Gold Medal olive oil makers, the best of the Peninsula will be on show, representing the regions spectacular offerings. Akaroa Harvest Festival

Saturday 10am-4pm

 

The Akaroa Harvest Festival is about celebrating Banks Peninsula food & wine.

Celebrating the flourishing food and wine industries on banks Peninsula from award winning wineries to Gold Medal olive oil makers, the best of the Peninsulas offerings will be on show. It will be a day of music, food, wine & activities, a country market Akaroa style.

Local music will be performing all day with live entertainment:

·         10am-12pm-Ukelele Band

·         12pm-2pm-Jen & Rob Ferris

·         2pm-4pm-The Great Depression

Akaroa Cooking School demonstration will take place at 1pm with Lou Bentley.

Food movies are being run at the Akaroa Cinema.

Children’s entertainment will take place all day with:

·         Akaroa Toy Library

·         ANTcan

·         Face painting

·         Egg & Spoon & Sack Races

Competitions being run are:

·         Best Jam Competition: judged by Kim Robertson (Akaroa Master Chef 2011). Prize: "A Years Worth" cook book donated by Dunsandel Store

·         Photographic Competition: judged by Kerry Walker. Prize: Double pass for 2 adults on Akaroa Dolphins harbour cruise.

·         School Mural Competition-harvest theme. $200 prize sponsored by BNZ. Nancy Tichborne judging. 

Media will be on site at the event with:

·         Anna Kate Jameson from  Life & Leisure who will be staying at Maison de la Mer-a petite lodge

·         Jo Taylor from Latitude Magazine who will be staying at Wilderness House
