| Akaroa has an enormous range of activities to keep you busy all day. A lot of the activities are focused around the beautiful harbour, but there are plenty of land activities too. There are cruises, sail boats, fishing trips, cooking classes, swimming with dolphins, fabulous gardens, penguin tours, mail runs, an excellent range of walking tracks and much much more. |

| Akaroa is rich in Arts and Crafts & has an abundance of artists and galleries. There are many souviner, gift shops and unique craft shops all walking distance in Akaroa township. You will love spending the day shopping in Akaroa and it is a great way to spend the day enjoying the retail therapy. |

| Akaroa Shopping |
 |
| Akaroa has many gift shops and art galleries to spend the day enjoying. The town is made up of 2 parts. The main wharf is at the south end of town and Beach road stretches out from there. There you will find bars, restaurants, gift shops, clothes shops, rock & jewellery shops. Something for everyone. Past the beach at the northern end of town you will find more fantastic shops, cafes and galleries. The shops are open until 5.30pm every day. |

| Akaroa Walks |
 |
Akaroa and Banks Peninsula has many great walking tracks that you can enjoy for free. These vary from short hikes to all day tramps over the picturesque hills. Go to 'more information' to find the walking track page which gives you both the Banks Peninsula and the Akaroa maps with the walks. Most of the walks have pdf brochures that you can download or purchase from the Akaroa Visitor Centre, or they have links to the Department of Conservation web site and brochures. |
