Ellerslie International Flower Show-Akaroa Exhibiting |

After the success at last years Ellerslie International Flower Show, Akaroa & the Bays are exhibiting again with an even more bolder and eye catching display. Jodie Nicholls, designer, and Douglas Croll, Builder, have been busy creating a faithful replica of the Akaroa lighthouse which will be featured in the National Flower Bed Competition. Come and support this project and check us at in Christchurch at the Ellerslie Show. |

Gill’s inspirations for this exhibition are the simple items from our kitchens we use every day. Combining her talents as both painter and chef, and her lifelong fascination with kitchens, Gill offers us a changed view of the kitchen and gives us a sense of going back to the basics of a simpler life. Never has a dish rack looked so good. Back in the Kitchen : Opens March 13 at 11am and runs until 7 April 2010. |

'Gourmet in a Day' Cooking Classes at the Akaroa Cooking School with Lou Bentley |

The day will kick off at 10am with tea, coffee and some freshly baked treats from the kitchen. You will then get comfortable and spend the next couple of hours watching the cooking demonstrations and learning about the produce and the techniques involved in creating a fabulous 3 course meal with some canapés to start. Then its time to tuck in to the mouth watering treats that have been demonstrated along with carefully selected matching NZ wines. The day will finish up around 3pm and you will then be free to walk off lunch around scenic Akaroa. Classes cost $175 including all food and wine. |

Akaroa Golf Club Open Day |

Akaroa Golf Club will hold their open day on Sunday March 14 in Pawsons Valley, Duvauchelle. The club is seeking new members, so if you are thinking of taking up golf, or resuming after a break, please come and join us. Committee members will be available to assist amd provide information. The Golf club is a wonderful sporting and social facility and our members are very welcoming. |

This annual cycle race starts in Cathedral Square, Christchurch at 7.30am for the pre-race briefing! And then it's all go at 8.00am. The finish line is in the centre of Akaroa, followed by prize giving on the Akaroa recreation ground. Make a weekend of it by booking into 1 of the many wonderful B&B's in Akaroa and enjoy a family weekend away. |
