Brief Description
NEW - NEW - NEW - We now have access to the second rural mail run out of Akaroa. The Akaroa Harbour Scenic Mail Run gives clients the chance to get intimate with Akaroa Harbour, Come with us and see the hidden places few visitors know of or go to. Get a feel for the history of the place and see where poeple live.
 
 
Detailed Information

    Departing 9.00am the first delivery is to the historic Maori Marae of Onuku.
    Retracing our steps through the Akaroa township its on to Takamatua, to the sea then up the valley, past the Lavender Farm, then to Robinsons Bay. A quick delivery to Ngaio Point, one of the newer sub divisions on the Peninsula, with fantastic views of Onawe Peninsula, an historic pa site.

    We pass the Duvauchelle Holiday Park, historic Duvauchelle Hotel, with a quick stop at the Duvauchelle Store.

    From here we travel a short distance up Barrys Bay Valley Road and then back to  the historic Barrys Bay Cheese Factory, with the promise to stop for tastings and purchases on the return journey. Up the 'Hill' for deliveries and onto the renowned French Farm Winery stopping along the way for delivery and pickup of mail.

    After a complimentary tea or coffee its down a steep sealed road to the lovely Tikao Bay where many boats are moored and a lovely sandy beach. Back on to the main road, we are heading for Wainui and into the valley for a round trip of the township. A popular place fir swimming, boating and many a diver leaving from the nearby jetty.

    For the final delivery the trip is worth the view alone. Bossu Road takes us to the summit where Mt Bossu at 712m dominates the skyline from all parts of the Southern Peninsula. Panoramic views of the wonderful volcanic landscape that forms Banks Peninsula, Akaroa Harbour down to South Canterbury are mind blowing with some unbelievable photographic opportunities along the way.

    Back we head along the waterfront to Akaroa township with the promised stop at the Barrys Bay Cheese Factory for cheese, wines and chutney, arriving in Akaroa at 1.30 approx.
