Tuatara Peninsula Race
The Tuatara Peninsula Race is a two-day, 85km multi-sport event that includes running, mountain-biking and kayaking each day. Competitors can enter either as an individual or as part of a three-person team.

Classic Boat Regatta
Vintage & Replica Sail or Power Craft. Come and celebrate and share the pleasure and enjoyment of classic boats on and off the water. Akaroa Harbour is a beautiful harbour in which to appreciate all boating activity. Come and enjoy the regatta and make a weekend of it.

Akaroa And The Bays Garden Tour
'Beyond The Garden Gate'. 17 exciting gardens and lifestyles to visit over the weekend. Lots of famous gardens and a fantastic opportunity to visit some new ones. Tickets are on sale now, $25 from the Akaroa Visitor Centre, Little River Gallery and Ballantynes. All the proceeds will go to the Akaroa Area School. Take your time and come and stay the weekend as there are a huge range of exciting gardens that will send you all over the Peninsula from French Farm to Decanter Bay and Fisherman’s Bay.

Orion Powerhouse Gallery Exhibition-'Tangaroa'
An exhibition of works by Peninsula Maori. The opening of this new exhibition is on Saturday November 8 at 7pm and features a number of works, painting, weaving and carving by local Peninsula Maori artists.

Dave Lloyd’s eclectic show, “When the timebird sings” once again demonstrates the extraordinary talent of this accomplished sculptor. Freeform pieces, freestanding pieces, the serious and whimsical, functionally aesthetic wallhung waterfeatures; work for enlivening the outside space, to the solo challenging feature on the stark contemporary wall. Over 40 copper pieces, too numerous to individualize, yet each a masterful joining of the metal to the mind, of craft to the art.

Waitangi Day Celebrations
Waitangi Day, a great family fun day out in Okains Bay to commemorate Waitangi Day. A traditional Maori welcome onto Marae at 10 am. Two magnificent carved waka being paddled up the river. Colonial displays, exhibits, crafts, musket shooting, cross-cut sawing, vintage engines, steam engine, printing presses, children’s games, races, tug-o-war, traditional hangi lunch, sausage sizzle, refreshments, music and a garden bar.

'Art from the Heart'- Akaroa Area School Art Auction
Akaroa Area School is hosting a celebration of Banks Peninsula inspired arts on Waitangi weekend 2009.
The art auction which will be held at the Gaiety Theatre, Akaroa, on the evening of Saturday, 7 February. The evening will not only celebrate the art of Banks Peninsula, but its food, wine and music.
